Congratulations Don! This press release was originally published on internetnz.net.nz. At OnNetworks we are delighted to reverberate the announcement that InternetNZ (Internet New Zealand Inc.) has appointed our Technology Director, Don Stokes as a Fellow of the Society.

Don Stokes, Technology Director at OnNetworks & Fellow of the Internet Society of New ZealandFellowships recognise members of the industry that have made an outstanding contributions to the Internet, New Zealand or the Society. At OnNetworks we would also like to recognise Don as a colleague we deal with everyday that provides leadership to solve complex problems. Evangelising our ethos that technology should be innovative, easy to use and economical.

Society President Frank March said “Stokes has been involved with the Internet in New Zealand since it first appeared, making largely unseen and highly technical contributions to its security and stability. 

In the early 1990s, Don helped set up the network infrastructure for the national Universities network and has since been involved in many large scale technical architecture deployments.

He has been associated with InternetNZ since its inception, providing considerable input on policy and technical matters, most notably through his membership of the ‘Hine Commission’, which gave rise to the .nz Shared Registry System.” Read the full article
